| Abstract: | This paper analyzes the content of electronic subject guides in Literary Studies on academic library webservers, identifying standard features and establishing an overview of their design and content. It then examines these guides against the practice of Literary Studies. The sample for this study consists of subject guides from the top 30 academic libraries in the U.S., as ranked by the Association of Research Libraries. Twenty-seven libraries offer such guides, organized by departmental boundaries and traditional categories. These guides vary greatly in scope. Their arrangement of materials follows traditional, non-electronic organizing schemes. Overall, academic libraries have not integrated recent changes in Literary Studies into electronic subject guides. |
