Converting Your Masters Paper to PDF When Off-Campus

Note: At this time, using the Microsoft Word template from off-campus will not allow SILS-ETD to automatically extract your document metadata. This process requires an Adobe Acrobat plugin that is not currently available for download. We still encourage you to use the template.

  1. First, make sure you have the capability to turn a Word document into a PDF. If you do not have access to Adobe Acrobat, there are several other options you can try: Please be careful, some PDF converters insert watermarks or small ads on your PDF pages. Check your pages once you have finished converting.
  2. If you have Adobe Acrobat installed, you can convert your document using the Convert to Adobe PDF menu option. Most other PDF creators are installed as printers. You can find these by going to File → Print.
  3. Convert your Word document to PDF by following the directions for the converter you have installed.
  4. Go back to the masters paper submission guidelines and find the section Submitting your paper to SILS-ETD.
